BLACK BOX COCKTAIL EVENT
In preparation for the August 2013 MadeWithLove Main Event – Winnipeg Edition we are holding a « Black Box Cocktail » Qualifiers at Boa Lounge (177 Lombard Ave, Winnipeg) on Monday May 20th, 2013 at 6pm.
We invite you to come and showcase your creative and technical skills, and to make a delicious cocktail with a black box style event that will test your creativity, knowledge and ability think on your feet. What is a black box event? It means all the ingredients, other than our alcohol sponsors, will be kept a secret until the moment you compete.
The day of the event, competitors will have 10 minutes to create one cocktail creation (one unit) for the judges.
Competitors will be judged on the following:
– 1/3 Creativity
– 1/3 Presentation
– 1/3 Taste
You will have access to basic fruits (lemon, lime & orange), simple syrup and all of our spirit partners for MadeWithLove Winnipeg 2013, which are:

We will accept a maximum of 25 candidates, of which 12 mixologists will be selected to participate in the August 2013 main event. Your ranking at the qualifier will give you priory to choose the spirit you will work with for the main event in June.

Winner of the Judge’s panel
Mixologists will be judged on their originality, presentation and taste of the cocktail. The mixologist that receives the most points will win their place in the Canadian National Finale in Montreal (all expenses 3 days trip in Montreal) in July of 2014 along with 14 other Canadian bartenders from 7 different cities.
Winner of the Public’s Choice
All attending guests will receive a MadeWithLove dogtag. After tasting all cocktails, guests will give their dogtag to their favourite mixologist. The mixologist with the most dogtags will be chosen as the Public’s Choice winner and will win their place in the Canadian National Finale in Montreal (all expenses 3 days trip in Montreal) in July of 2014 along with 14 other Canadian bartenders from 7 different cities.
There are 10 trips to be won overall at the National Finale.
