Vancouver Qualifiers 2013 - Made with Love competition cocktails

CITY INSPIRED COCKTAIL EVENT

Proudly presented in collaboration with the Canadian Professional Bartenders Association (CPBA).

In preparation for the August 2013 MadeWithLove Main Event – Vancouver Edition we are holding a “City Inspired Cocktail” Qualifiers at Refinery (1115 Granville St Vancouver,) on Monday April 29nd, at 6pm.

We invite you to come and showcase your creative and technical skills, and to make a delicious cocktail inspired by some of the most popular districts in Vancouver: They are as follows:

– Granville Island
– Stanley Parc
– Yaletown
– Gastown
– Chinatown

Each competitor will be assigned one Vancouver district to use as inspiration. The district assignments will be given at random. Competitors will be informed of their associated districts 3 days before the qualifier.

The day of the event, competitors will have 10 minutes to create one cocktail creation (one unit) for the judges.

Competitors will be judged:
– 1/4 Respect of the theme
– 1/4 Presentation
– 1/4 Taste
– 1/4 Speed (10 min max, minus 1 every minute taken)

You will have access to basic fruits (lemon, lime & orange), simple syrup and all of our spirit partners for MadeWithLove Vancouver 2013, which are:

BRING EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO CREATE YOUR COCKTAIL (syrups, bitters, fruits, herbs, specialty glassware etc).

NO ADDITIONAL SPIRITS ARE ALLOWED FOR THIS QUALIFIER.

– Strainers, double strainers
– Citrus press
– Zesters
– Knife
– Cutting board
– Syphon
– Etc, etc, etc NO LIMITATIONS

We will accept a maximum of 25 candidates, of which 14 mixologists will be selected to participate in the August 2013 main event. Your ranking at the qualifier will give you priory to choose the spirit you will work with for the main event in August.

Winner of the Judge’s panel
Mixologists will be judged on the originality, presentation and the taste of their cocktail. The mixologist who will receive the most points will win their place in the Canadian National Finale in Montreal (all expenses 3 days trip in Montreal) in July of 2014 along with 14 other Canadian bartenders from 7 different cities.

Winner of the Public’s Choice
All attending guests will receive a dogtag. After tasting all cocktails, guests will give their dogtag to their favourite mixologist. The mixologist with the most dogtags will be chosen as the Public’s Choice winner and will win their place in the Canadian National Finale in Montreal (all expenses 3 days trip in Montreal) in July of 2014 along with 14 other Canadian bartenders from 7 different cities.

There are 10 trips to be won overall at the National Finale.
